Commencement Of Catamaran Passenger Line Between Kotor And Dubrovnik

Source: Kompas Croatia

The much-anticipated catamaran passenger line between Dubrovnik and Kotor officially commenced on June 2, 2025, marking another milestone in regional maritime connectivity. This service will be operational until September 30, 2025, providing travelers with a seamless and scenic journey between Montenegro and Croatia. The introduction of this new service further strengthens maritime tourism and improves accessibility for visitors exploring the stunning Adriatic coastline.

This marks the second catamaran route established between the two neighboring countries, following the successful launch of the Dubrovnik-Budva line which commences today for the second year and will also be operational until September 30, 2025.

Consistent with its previous engagement in the Dubrovnik-Budva line, ABACO has provided comprehensive legal and advisory services in relation to the establishment of the Dubrovnik-Kotor catamaran route. Acting on behalf of Kompas, a reputable Croatian-based travel and passenger transport company, ABACO has facilitated the securing of regulatory approvals, navigated complex legislative requirements, and ensured full compliance with all applicable legal frameworks governing the operation of international maritime passenger transport services.

The expansion of passenger maritime routes between Montenegro and Croatia signifies a strengthening of institutional cooperation within the Adriatic transport sector, addressing the increasing demand for efficient, environmentally sustainable, and commercially viable maritime travel options. The deployment of catamaran ‘Antonija’ shall facilitate the operational execution of both the Dubrovnik-Budva and Dubrovnik-Kotor routes, further consolidating Montenegro’s position as a regional maritime transport hub.

As the Dubrovnik-Kotor catamaran service commences, stakeholders across the tourism, maritime, and regulatory sectors anticipate a substantial contribution to Montenegro’s long-term maritime development strategy, reinforcing its role in advancing cross-border cooperation, sustainable tourism, and maritime commerce.
