Our colleague Maja Radunovic Culafic represents Montenegrin Maritime Law Association during its milestone success during the CMI Conference in Tokyo

At the 2025 CMI Conference in Tokyo, held on 17 May, the Montenegrin Maritime Law Association (MMLA) was officially admitted as a full member of the Comité Maritime International. Our colleague, Maja Radunovic Culafic, Head of our Maritime Disputes Resolution Division and President of the MMLA, proudly represented Montenegro during this historical milestone event.
The conference gathered leading maritime law experts from around the world, offering a dynamic platform to exchange knowledge and strengthen international cooperation. Key topics included the adoption of Lex Maritima (“Tokyo Draft”), updates on the Beijing Convention on Judicial Sale of Ships, decarbonization, cruise industry challenges, and new technological developments in the maritime sector.
Maja also participated in the International Working Group on Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS), contributing to discussions on regulation, liability, and remote vessel operations—issues of increasing importance to the future of maritime law.
MMLA’s accession to the CMI represents a formal entry of our country into the global maritime law community, opening new opportunities for collaboration and development.
