ABACO Ltd welcomes Maja Mijuskovic as Legal Counsel
ABACO Ltd is pleased to announce the appointment of Maja Mijuskovic as Legal Counsel, marking a significant enhancement of our firm's legal and strategic capabilities in the maritime sector.
With nearly two decades of distinguished service in Montenegro's public administration, Ms. Mijuskovic brings unparalleled expertise in maritime governance, international cooperation, and legal policy. Her career includes senior leadership roles across multiple ministries, where she oversaw key areas such as maritime affairs, navigation safety, pollution prevention, port development and European integration.
Ms. Mijuskovic has served as:
- Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Transport (2024-2025)
- Chairman of the National Committee for Maritime Search and Rescue at Sea (2024-2025)
- Acting Director General for Maritime Affairs (2024)
- Director General for Maritime Transport, Navigation Safety, Pollution Prevention, and the Maritime Economy (2022–2024)
- Legal Key Expert for the EU-funded Feasibility Study on the Multimodality of the Port of Bar (2021–2022)
- Director General of the Directorate for the Maritime Economy (2018–2020)
Her earlier roles within the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Transport included serving as Head of Cabinet, Ministerial Advisor, and Coordinator for European Integration and International Cooperation, among others.
This appointment reflects ABACO's continued commitment to delivering jurisdiction-specific, internationally aligned legal services across the maritime, insurance, and regulatory landscape. Ms. Mijuskovic's deep understanding of institutional frameworks and her strategic insight into maritime policy will be instrumental in advancing our mission as Montenegro's leading maritime law firm.
